Be the One is the Prevention Department of First Care Family Resources, Inc. We have been saving and changing lives in Palm Beach County since 1992. Our aim is to educate and empower youth and their families through the message of abstinence-until-marriage and the promotion of healthy relationships.
Be the One encourages youth to say “yes” to healthy relationships and to say “no” to high-risk behaviors such as alcohol and drug use, sexual activity, and violence. As a prevention program, it is our aim to reduce teen pregnancy, reduce the proportion of teen’s engaging in sexual intercourse and other high-risk behaviors, and to reduce the number of youth contracting sexually transmitted infections in Palm Beach County.
Be the One helps youth to develop connectedness with their families, schools, peers and communities so that they can make wise choices and avoid unhealthy lifestyles. We are committed to positively supporting and valuing young people as strong contributors to society.

Be the One firmly believes that parents and guardians are the primary educators and influencers of their children. We encourage parents, as well as community leaders, to be positive role models for youth. Through interactive workshops, we provide parents with effective ways of discussing sexual issues with their children and teens. In addition, we educate healthcare professionals, the business community, and other community groups.
In 2005, after primarily offering our services in public and private schools, we implemented our faith-based program – Living Stones – in order to minister to local churches and faith-based communities.

Summary of Services
School-Based Project
We offer four hours of dynamic classroom instruction utilizing Be the One’s curricula The Standard (for middle school) and The Next Level (for high school). Presentations involve activities, video, PowerPoint, interactive conversation, and influential instruction. All curricula are age-appropriate and medically accurate.
We also lead mentoring clubs (approximately 12 weeks per semester) in order to develop deeper relationships with youth, to encourage them to live the lifestyle of abstinence, and to empower them to be leaders.
Faith-Based Project – Living Stones
Our Living Stones project is based on the Scripture in
1 Peter 2:4-5:
“As you come to Him, the Living Stone – rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to Him – you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” |

We offer a wide variety of presentations and trainings for youth, parents, medical professionals, and others on topics related to abstinence, healthy relationships, media, culture, sexual activity, and more. We modify our workshops in terms of content and timeframe in a manner that works best for the audience, and without compromising the message. If you are interested in hosting a training seminar in your church, workplace, or elsewhere, feel free to contact our office at 561-721-9286 or email us at info@betheone.org.
We also provide consistent opportunities to participate in extended trainings to build up, challenge, and encourage the body of Christ. Along with our own curricula, we have also utilized content from the following seminars include:
- Five Lies That Ruin Relationships – Chip Ingram
- Intersect | Culture – Christianity Today
- Kinsey Exposed: Crimes, Consequences and Corruption – Susan Brinkmann
- Love and Respect – Dr. Emerson Eggerichs
- Love, Sex & Lasting Relationships – Chip Ingram
- Ministering to a Multicultural Society – Joseph Sowers
- Well Said: A Language Enrichment Seminar on the Rhetoric of Abstinence – Mary Anne Mosack
Additionally, we are in the process of developing a training program where we invest in local churches (via a point person) to educate and train others to lead Living Stones clubs with the youth in their lives and/or congregations.
