The Impact of Abortion

Recent statistics quantify the impact of over 30 years of legalized abortion in the US:

  • Over 50 million children aborted
  • 1 in 4 pregnancies end in abortion
  • 43% of women of child bearing age have had an abortion
  • ½ of all unplanned pregnancies end in abortion

(Department of Health)

  • Results for those who have experienced an abortion:
  • 94% regret their decision
  • 92% have guilt or shame
  • 91% experience intense grief
  • 85% are unable to forgive themselves
  • 65% have considered suicide

(Elliott Institute)

  • Results of sex outside of marriage:
  • Out-of-wedlock births jumped from 5% in 1960 to 37% in 2000
  • STD’s are now a major public concern with 19 million new infections each year (1/2 if these infections are to those 15-24 years of age)
  • HPV, (an STD) has been revealed as a major cause of cervical cancer

(Center for Disease Control)

God uses the ministries of First Care to give loving support and education to a young woman considering abortion. When we can plant seeds of His truth, most of the time, that woman will reap the harvest of a son or daughter. Whenever a client gives us the opportunity, we share the Gospel with her and reap an eternal harvest. More seeds are planted when we teach youth the truth about God’s purpose for sexuality and the consequences of treating sex as a casual partner. The harvest is teens who choose the higher standard of abstinence until marriage.
